No Church on Oct. 4

No church tonight at The Free Gift Gospel Mission. This is due to the explosion that took place today at Eastman and the close proximity of our church to the area in question. I’ve been in touch with one of our deacons who works there, and this decision has been made based on several factors, including the fact that we are uncertain if they have a handle on the situation yet. There still seems to be a risk of danger and we think it’s best to avoid the area until things are more clear. See you Sunday at 10a.m.

Revival Ongoing Through Friday, May 19

We had a great service last night in our revival. Bro. Johnny preached a message that reminded us all that we need to get our new shine back. When you buy a new car it shines and glows, but if you never wash it, that shine goes away and it gets filthy. Many Christians today have lost that shine they once had after coming to know Christ. They need to get their shine back. If you need to get your shine back, join us tonight for another revival service at The Free Gift Gospel Mission at 7p.m. Revival continues all week through Friday.

Bro. Terry Collins will be our guest singer tonight. Tomorrow night, Bro. Dan Henderson will be with us.

Easter Egg Hunt and Hotdog Picnic (4/15/17)

The Free Gift Gospel Mission will be having our Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Hotdog Picnic on Saturday, April 15, from 11a.m.-1p.m.

We will start off inside the church sanctuary at 11a.m. with a brief Easter Message and scripture reading from Pastor Vern to the children.

Then we will transition outside to our grassy area where we will do 4 seperate egg hunts for 4 different age groups one at a time (each hunt only last about 5 minutes or so, so other age groups won’t have to wait very long). There will be special prize eggs along with many regular eggs containing candy.

Free hotdogs, chips, and soda will be served to all who come (adults AND kids).

This event is within walking distance of Dale Street, Sevier, Myrtle, and other surrounding streets.

Come a few minutes early. We will start promplty at 11a.m. with the Welcome and brief Easter message and scripture reading, then immediately start hunting eggs after that. Don’t be late!

God bless!

March 26, 2017 Update

It’s been a tremendous and wonderful weekend for The Free Gift Gospel Mission. Last night’s benefit singing turned into one the best worship services I’ve ever been in. The Lord provided $2604 last night for our building fund, but He wasn’t finished. When we got to church this morning another dear sister who couldn’t attend the benefit singing last night handed me a check for $3000! That made our total of money raised this weekend $5604…..and that’s not counting our current ongoing quarter book fundraiser! God is so good!

The Spirit of God came down and blessed in a mighty way this morning with many folks shouting and praising God and many folks coming to the altar to pray and receive help and strength. Bro. Johnny Copas brought a great message reminding the church that God doesn’t give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

The Lord just carried on into tonight service with more shouting and praising the Lord and the altar full. Bro. Doutt preached a powerful message from Luke 2 reminding us to always be about God’s business no matter what.

One brother said it was almost like God showed up last night at the benefit singing and just pulled up a chair and stayed right there all night until we came back this morning. It truly has been a great weekend.

Thanks to The Minister’s Quartet, The Great Commission Praise Team, and The Singing Doutts for all of their help to the church, and thanks to everyone who has given and prayed for the church!

May you all have a blessed upcoming week in the Lord!

Love in Christ,

His Timing is Perfect!

In Luke Chapter 8, the Bible records the story of the woman with the issue of blood. She had this condition for 12 years and could not be healed by anyone else. But one day as Jesus was walking along with a great crowd of people pressing against Him, she made her way to Him and touched the hem of His garment and immediately she was healed.

The Lord Jesus certainly had the power to heal this woman before then, and some have wondered why He didn’t. The Bible doesn’t give us specific details about why He didn’t heal her before then, but it does teach us that the Lord always has a plan and a purpose for His ways, and His timing is perfect!

As you go about your day today, think about what it means in your life to know that His timing is perfect.

Love in Christ,

As it stands right now church is still on schedule for tonight.  I’m in touch with several people, and if that changes I’ll let everyone know.
