Join Us Tonight!

I welcome you all to join us tonight at The Free Gift Gospel Mission. Unless the Lord changes things, I will be preaching from James Chapter 2 concerning the connection between faith and works. If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, I’d be happy to see you at 7p.m. at 1025 Maple Street. I pray for a good turnout of God worshippers…..and I hope some lost will come hear the word, too. So come join us as we assemble together for preaching, singing, and praying as a Bible believing New Testament church should. Love and prayers.

Homecoming tomorrow

Homecoming means different things to other churches, but to me, Homecoming at The Free Gift Gospel Mission, marks the anniversary of dreams that have come to pass and are still coming to pass. God has brought us a very long way, and He’s not through yet. I was thinking about all the times years ago when Melissa and I would ride around with this vision looking for a building or somewhere where we could hold meetings. I remember praying to the Lord, saying, “Lord, don’t let it just live a few months and close up like so many others.” In fact, some of you reading this were with us when we rented the Community Chest building in Gray, and then we rented a space at Warrior’s path to have a service. God was moving even then as we sought different locations just to have periodic meetings. God has been with us and He is still with us right now. We could have quit and we could have used the past and other excuses to try to shirk our destiny, but the Lord wouldn’t let it happen.

Tomorrow will mark the 9th anniversary of our first official meeting as “The Free Gift Gospel Mission” and we’ll enter our 10th year. We’ve seen some souls saved and some people helped along the way. To God be the glory! By His grace, I’m looking forward to the future serving Him as long as He gives us grace and strength. I hope to see you tomorrow at The Free Gift Gospel Mission for Homecoming 2016. The service starts at 10a.m. There will be NO Sunday School tomorrow and NO evening service. The Sounds of Victory will be our guest singers and there will be a Homecoming meal following the service. Come and join us for this special occasion.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Vern Hall

The 9th Annual Homecoming Service

The Free Gift Gospel Mission will be having our 9th Annual Homecoming service on April 17, at 10a.m. There will be NO Sunday school. The service will start at 10a.m. with special guest singers, The Sounds of Victory.

There will be a homecoming meal to follow the service. The meal will take place about a half mile from the church at the V.O. Dobbins Community Center in the Douglas Room. It is located at 301 Louis Street in Kingsport. We are asking everyone to prepare at least a covered dish and bring it for the meal. If you can’t bring food, yes, you are still welcome and encouraged to come. The Douglas Room will be unlocked at 9a.m. You may drop off your food there prior to the service. A refrigerator will be available. The church will supply the fried chicken, drinks, and paper products. Desserts, sides, and other meats will need to be prepared.

If you have food to drop off, after you do so, meet back at the church building at 1025 Maple Street in Kingsport at 10a.m. for the service. Please invite your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to join us in the house of the Lord for our homecoming service!

Also, there will be a household shower at the Douglas Room for the Overbey’s who recently lost their home in a fire. If anyone would like to contribute to the shower, you may do so.

Easter Egg Hunt and Hotdog Picnic (Sat. March 26)

It’s time for The Free Gift Gospel Mission’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Hotdog Picnic! Please note the change in location this year. We will be doing this event at the church location at 1025 Maple Street. The last couple of years we were blessed to use the piece of land between Dale and Sullivan Streets close to the Health Dept. but the property has changed hands, and after many phone calls trying to secure the use of the land again this year, we were unable to get confirmation. We considered several other locations, but we enjoy having all the children from the neighborhood who walk to the Egg Hunt each year. Therefore we will move this event back to the church property and use our small lot to do 4 different hunts for the 4 different age groups. We are asking everyone who will be hunting eggs to be in the sanctuary at 11:00a.m. regardless of age so as to not miss the Easter presentation by Pastor Vern Hall. We consider this to be the most important part of the event. Here’s the schedule (please note carefully):

11:00a.m.- Everyone will meet inside the church sanctuary for a brief, Christ centered, Easter presentation by Pastor Vern Hall. Please arrive a few minutes early and not a few minutes late. You might miss alot in a few minutes. We will start promptly. At 11:20 we will move outside to begin the 4 rounds of egg hunts.

11:20a.m- Egg Hunt for ages 5 and under. Hotdogs and drinks will be served for those not hunting eggs or those who are waiting to hunt eggs.

11:40a.m.- Egg Hunt for ages 6-8. Hotdogs and drinks will be served for those not hunting eggs, those who are waiting to hunt eggs, or those who have already hunted eggs.

12:00p.m.- Egg Hunt for ages 9-11. Hotdogs and drinks will be served for those who are not hunting egg, those who are waiting to hunt eggs, or those who have already hunted eggs.

12:20-p.m.- Egg Hunt for ages 12-17. Hotdogs and drinks will be served for those who are not hunting eggs and those who have already hunted eggs.

Hotdogs and drinks will be served until 1:00p.m. The first 100 kids will receive a small treat bag. Everything is free! Please help us spread the word by “sharing” this event. Our goal is to reach as many as possible with the message of the resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ.
