Ministry on Broad Street (April 23, 2019)

Summary of today’s ministry on Broad Street with the “Stop and Talk Cross”:

There were 4 conversations that stood out.

First, a lady named Kathleen came by. I talked with her for about 45 minutes. Her first question was, “Are you a Jehovah’s Witness?” I had just officiated a service at Courtyards, so I had my necktie on. Perhaps that had something to do with it. Anyway, after stating to her that I wasn’t a Jehovah’s Witness, we started talking about the deity of Christ. As the conversation progressed, Kathleen revealed that she adhered to the 7th Day Adventist view of Saturday keeping, but there were many inconsistencies, namely….she denied the importance of the local church. She also appealed to Dr. James Strong’s concordance several times while criticizing Westcott and Hort, which is somewhat inconsistent considering the relationship between the 3 men. She also held the familiar view that everything that came from Alexandria was corrupt. Her view on Westcott and Hort and Alexandria seems oddly inconsistent with someone who isn’t a KJV Onlyist. She stated that she was not a KJV Onlyist. Please pray for Kathleen. She has some adversity in her life. I shared the gospel of Christ with her.

Secondly, a man named Scott came by. I spoke with him for about 45 minutes. I had met Scott before. As he approached today, he apologized for his behavior during our last meeting. He last left our last conversation in a non-gracious fashion. Scott likes to talk about the intricacies of God’s law, but as Kathleen, he denies the importance of the local church. Please pray for Scott. He becomes visible angry when he presents views that are out of sync with the Bible and his audience doesn’t agree and go along with him. I tried to be a witness of the truth for him again today, but he refused to receive it.

Thirdly, a young lady named Kaitlyn approached me crying. She stated that she was overcome with thankfulness for the ministry that was taking place. She was very encouraging, for which I thanked her.

Finally, I met a young man named Tyler who expressed a desire to minister to the hungry and needy. He asked me a few questions about whether or not I’d be willing to help him in the effort. I stated an interest in helping in any way I could to the glory of Jesus Christ, and gave him my contact info and asked him to contact me for further discussion.

I appreciate the prayers of God’s people in regard to these conversations, and the many other people who walked by as the things of God were being discussed and/or the gospel being shared openly.
