Wed., April 24

May the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ infuse believers with such confidence that when times of persecutions arise we’ll stand firm and say, “I will not recant or back up. Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life and as for me and my house, we WILL serve the Lord!” Join us tonight at 7p.m.

Ministry on Broad Street (April 23, 2019)

Summary of today’s ministry on Broad Street with the “Stop and Talk Cross”:

There were 4 conversations that stood out.

First, a lady named Kathleen came by. I talked with her for about 45 minutes. Her first question was, “Are you a Jehovah’s Witness?” I had just officiated a service at Courtyards, so I had my necktie on. Perhaps that had something to do with it. Anyway, after stating to her that I wasn’t a Jehovah’s Witness, we started talking about the deity of Christ. As the conversation progressed, Kathleen revealed that she adhered to the 7th Day Adventist view of Saturday keeping, but there were many inconsistencies, namely….she denied the importance of the local church. She also appealed to Dr. James Strong’s concordance several times while criticizing Westcott and Hort, which is somewhat inconsistent considering the relationship between the 3 men. She also held the familiar view that everything that came from Alexandria was corrupt. Her view on Westcott and Hort and Alexandria seems oddly inconsistent with someone who isn’t a KJV Onlyist. She stated that she was not a KJV Onlyist. Please pray for Kathleen. She has some adversity in her life. I shared the gospel of Christ with her.

Secondly, a man named Scott came by. I spoke with him for about 45 minutes. I had met Scott before. As he approached today, he apologized for his behavior during our last meeting. He last left our last conversation in a non-gracious fashion. Scott likes to talk about the intricacies of God’s law, but as Kathleen, he denies the importance of the local church. Please pray for Scott. He becomes visible angry when he presents views that are out of sync with the Bible and his audience doesn’t agree and go along with him. I tried to be a witness of the truth for him again today, but he refused to receive it.

Thirdly, a young lady named Kaitlyn approached me crying. She stated that she was overcome with thankfulness for the ministry that was taking place. She was very encouraging, for which I thanked her.

Finally, I met a young man named Tyler who expressed a desire to minister to the hungry and needy. He asked me a few questions about whether or not I’d be willing to help him in the effort. I stated an interest in helping in any way I could to the glory of Jesus Christ, and gave him my contact info and asked him to contact me for further discussion.

I appreciate the prayers of God’s people in regard to these conversations, and the many other people who walked by as the things of God were being discussed and/or the gospel being shared openly.

Tonight at The Free Gift Gospel Mission:

Song and prayer unto God, and continued instruction in the Word from Acts 10 to the praise and glory of Christ. God wrought a work in the life of The Apostle Peter to free him of his prejudice toward the Gentiles, and God is still sovereignly at work in our lives to arrange and orchestrate our encounters today. Join us at 7p.m. for family integrated worship.

Beautiful Gate

Beautiful Gate by Tammie Babb Burrelll

I AM the Only Door;

My blood runs down;

My mercy stands here;

My love watches over;

My hand stretches forth;

Patiently waiting,

the Gate;

I AM the Beautiful Gate.

YOU ARE the Only Door;

Only Gate through we enter;

Your Majesty is above all;

Our reconciliation finally restored;

You caught our danger fall.

Faithfully You,

our Center;

Beautiful Gate, Oh My Lord!

Feb. 27, 2019

Anti-God mindsets are permeating our society today, but God has placed Christians here as salt and light for a world that is unsalted and walking in darkness. I’ve got more to say on this matter tonight.

Mid-week service tonight at The Free Gift Gospel Mission. I’m looking forward to opening the Bible and worshipping with God’s people. Come and join us at 7p.m.

Ministry Update, Feb. 8, 2019:

Today was the first day I took my “Stop and Talk” cross to the streets. Here’s one thing I learned quickly, when you step out onto a public sidewalk holding a cross that says “Stop and Talk”…..you’d better be ready to talk!

Immediately upon stepping onto Broad Street, I was approached by a lady who said she knew the Bible “better than you could ever dream.” When I heard this claim I asked her to share the gospel with me. She responded by saying:

“Always be nice.
Always be kind.
Never trust anyone,
Who’ll stab you from behind.”

That was her answer for the gospel. I immediately responded by telling her that was NOT the gospel, but she turned and walked away before any further conversation could ensue.

Just as soon as she walked away, another man stepped up immediately. I think he said his name was Scott. He began our conversation by arguing in favor of law keeping for salvation and the Jewish sabbath. I’m not sure if he was coming from a Hebrew Roots Movement perspective or some other perspective, but I’m thankful that the Lord gave me this opportunity to be a witness for God’s grace in my 30 minute conversation with Scott. I’m sure my witness was not perfect by any means, but the gospel was proclaimed. I’m trusting God to give the increase. Pray for Scott, please.

Two other individuals took Bibles today. Thank you, Pat Humiston, for the latest donation of Bibles. Thank you to all who have been praying for The Free Gift Gospel Mission. May many souls flee to Christ.
