The Unity of the Spirit in the Bond of Peace

Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Unity can either be promoted or disturbed. Here we are exhorted to make every effort to preserve unity, and the bond of peace is the means by which it is preserved. The peace which comes from love, humility, meekness, and mutual forbearance is essential to the union and communion of the members of the body of Christ, and this is evidence of the Spirit’s presence. As hatred, pride, and contention cause the Spirit to withdraw from them, love and peace secure his presence.

*not an exact quote but I’ll cite Charles Hodge for the above*

My prayer is for you all to enjoy a blessed day in the Lord. Remember to read your Bibles, pray, and believe God.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Vern
